Perth Wellington Liberal Candidate Talks Shop

The federal liberal candidate for Perth-Wellington launches a "Talk Shop" tour in St. Marys Thursday.

Stephen McCotter wants to focus on the importance of local issues, and small business.

He is emphasizing the need for federal investment in the riding, and the need for well paying jobs.

The tour will continue throughout April and May as McCotter's team moves into local store fronts in towns across the riding one weekend at a time.

He hopes to bring attention to the riding's mainstreets, and promote local businesses.

The St. Mary's stop runs through Saturday April 11th. McCotter says, “It will be a great way to meet with people out on the town, to listen to their concerns and share my ideas. I am there as a federal candidate of course, but I also think it is a great way to spread the word about upcoming community events, while also promoting our small business communities.”

He adds, “What has committed me to these local issues even further, is that the people in our towns and communities – from local business owners, to our farmers, to young parents raising a family - they all agree. Something needs to be done.”

“I have seen people making do with the same or less money and their bills are going up,” he says. “We can paint the unemployment statistics however we like, but the price of everything is going up and people are not getting an increase in their wages. They are getting less hours, there are fewer well-paying jobs in the riding than there were 10 years ago.”
