A ceremony hosted by Bruce Power marked the anniversary of the Day of Mourning.
Bruce Power President and CEO Duncan Hawthorne urged employees and union partners to never forget the people who have died or become ill in the workplace.
He also urged workers to prevent workplace fatalities and injuries from ever happening again.
He says safety is the number one value at Bruce Power, which creates a benchmark to greatly reduce workplace injuries or death at the site.
The commemoration at the Bruce site included members from the Grey-Bruce Labour Council, The Power Workers Union, the Society of Energy Professionals, The Building Trades Union, Ontario Power Generation, and Saugeen First Nation.
Family members of people who lost their lives during the construction of the Bruce site were also there.
Those who died are honoured on a memorial cairn at Bruce Power's corporate office.
