Bluewater council has agreed to ask staff to take another look at the building permit fee structure.
Deputy Mayor Jim Ferguson explains the owner of the Paul Bunyon Camp Ground in Bayfield wants to build a picnic pavilion on the grounds.
But he pointed out to council that the fee structure is based purely on square footage, and in his case the fee is excessive for the structure he wants to build.
Ferguson agreed and said the structure is really only a flat concrete slab with a roof, but also agreed the fact that the structure was for public use affects the permit fee to some degree.
Bluewater staff will review the fee structure and if it's decided that the fee is out of line, a refund will be made.
