Meaford Electric Eclectics Get Funding

An outdoor festival of experimental music and sound-art will continue for at least two more years in Meaford.

Bruce-Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller announced today that the federal government is providing $30,000 over two years to support the Electric Eclectics Festival.

The summer festival presents about 30 avant-garde and crossover Canadian and international musicians, as well as music-related art installations.

The grants of $15,000 for both 2015 and 2016 are from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

This summer's festival is July 31 to August 2.

“As an annual festival that presents avant-garde, exploratory music and art, in a rural setting, the Electric Eclectics Festival is unique to our region, and it is safe to say that we are a one-of-a-kind cultural event in the rural county of Grey-Bruce," says Gordon Monahan, director of the Electric Eclectics Festival. "We also attract a sizable audience to our festival, thus bringing in significant tourism visits to our local community of Meaford."
