A lightning strike caused damage to a Port Elgin home in the midst of Monday evening's severe thunderstorms.
The Saugeen Shores Fire Department was called to a Wellington St. home just after 9:00pm, where crews found smoke inside the two-storey home.
Property owner Karen Devaul says she was sitting on the patio in the backyard when the lightning struck with a loud bang and smoke filled the yard.
"We went into the house and there was broken glass and the kitchen had smoke in it and we looked in the bathroom and the wall had caved in and the photo that was there was in the middle of the hall," says Devaul.
Nobody was hurt and firefighters confirmed any fire caused by the lightning strike had extinguished itself.
