Stratford Police will take part in a program to promote the responsible consumption and sale of alcohol.
The Last Drink Program started in 2011 as a pilot project of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and law enforcement agencies.
The public safety initiative is designed ot reduce impaired driving on Ontario Highways.
It involves officers informing the commission, when investigating any alcohol related driving offence where the motorist had departed from a licensed establishment.
That will help pinpoint education opportunities to ensure establishments comply with liquor laws, and prevent the over service of alcoholic beverages, to reduce impaired driving.
“We take every opportunity we can to educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving, Inspector Sam Theocharis, of the Stratford Police Service. “ It’s important to stress the importance of the responsible consumption and responsible sale of alcohol. The Last Drink Program helps us to do just that.”
