Still No Contract For Participation Lodge Workers

Still no contract for developmental services workers at Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce.

In a fax, Participation Lodge Executive Director Elaine Kerr has expressed disappointment in the union conduct during negotiations.

Kerr says Participation Lodge, Grey Bruce thought it had a tentative deal with the union representing 55 workers, members of OPESU local 235 in Late May.

She adds it was the employer's belief, the union bargaining committee would recommend that its members accept the deal.

The workers rejected a tentative agreement with the union (OPSEU) saying it called for the elimination of a shift premium for some of the workers.

Participation Lodge is based in Holland Centre and provides services to individuals with developmental disabillities and acquired brain injury at the main lodge and in apartments in Owen Sound and Hanover.

Workers have been without a contract since March 31 of 2014.
