New Booklet Helps Huron Landowners Protect Beaches

There is a new resource showing what individual landowners can do to protect beach areas on their property.

The booklet is called "Caring for our Beaches" and was created by the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation.

Geoff Peach is a Coastal Resources Manager and says there is a misconception that protecting beaches is only the responsibility of governments and large organizations.

He says landowners can maintain the natural vegetation along the shoreline to act as a filter for water moving towards the lake.

Peach says natural vegetation also helps protect the beaches and sand dunes from erosion.
