About one hundred people representing municipal councils, various service providers, business leaders and members of the public attended a public meeting to introduce a Huron County-wide economic development strategic planning process.
Huron Economic Development Manager Natasha Fritzley says rather than have the county present a county plan, the county wide plan includes all of the lower-tier municipalities. The process hopes to dove-tail all of the individual strategic plans into one that ensures there are no gaps and takes advantage of opportunities for consolidation where that exists.
Fritzley adds this approach in unique in that it involves all of the lower-tiers as well as the county and various community organizations. She points out it is a serious commitment with a tight time line because they want to have it completed in time for lower-tier councils to complete their budgets.
