The Grey Bruce Health Unit wants federal election candidates to consider a healthy community as part of their platform.
Each federal candidate in the region will get a "Health in All Policies" resource package from the Health Unit which looks at important health issues in six areas, and the actions needed to address them.
Those issues include income security, food systems, the environment, transportation, housing and access to recreation.
The handbook calls on decision makers to consider the consequences to resident's health in all of their choices.
The Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health says they want to ensure candidates understand that decisions of elected officials can greatly impact residents.
Dr. Hazel Lynn says candidates should incorporate healthy community principals into their campaign.
