UPDATE: Chatsworth Township Standoff Ends Peacefully - One Arrest

A man who barricaded himself in a home in the Township of Chatsworth has surrendered without incident.

Grey County OPP report that the 69-year-old man was arrested just before 8:00 last night. He was taken to hospital for assessment under the Mental Health Act.   There were no injuries.

The incident started around 11:30 Tuesday morning when the OPP responded to a call about a barricaded person in a home on Gore Crescent in the Township. There were concerns the man had access to a firearm.

Two other occupants left the residence without incident prior to police being called.

A containment of the area was set up around the home and the OPP Emergency Response Team and Tactics and Rescue Unit were called to assist.

Gore Crescent re-opened to residents last night after the arrest.

(previous story) There is a heavy police presence on Gore Crescent in the Township of Chatsworth as OPP deal with a person barricaded in a residence.

About 11:30 this morning, police responded to the residence after receiving information of a barricaded male claiming to have a firearm.

Two other occupants left the residence without incident prior to police being called.

Police say there is no risk to the public.

A containment area has been set up around the residence and local residents have been advised of the situation.

Police have not been able to communicate with the barricaded person for several hours.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) were called to assist and are currently at the scene.

Gore Crescent is expected to remain closed as the investigation is ongoing.
