Exeter Driver Loses Licence For 90 Days

A Sunday afternoon traffic stop may turn out to be an expensive experience for an Exeter driver.

The 47-year-old faces an over 80 criminal charge and two provincial offences following a traffic stop just after 3:30 p.m. on the Main Street in Exeter.

The Huron County OPP officer noticed the driver was using his cell phone as he was driving down the road and pulled him over.

Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted he had been drinking and saw an open bottle of beer on the passenger seat.

In a roadside screening test the driver registered a fail and was placed under arrest and taken to the Lucan OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Two samples of his breath registered over the legal limit.

He is charged with driving a vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood, driving while using a handheld communication device and driving with an open container of liquor.

The driver received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
