Grey Bruce Health Unit Launches Breastfeeding Toolkit For Businesses

The Grey Bruce Health Unit wants the area to be breastfeeding friendly.

They've launched a new toolkit for businesses to help them support customers who nurse their babies.

Stacy Gibbons is one of those customers.

She says her experiences breastfeeding outside her home were often negative and she supports the health unit for herself and others.

"For other moms in the future to be able to shop and feel at home nursing their baby and being able to go out in public not being stuck at home just because they nurse," says Gibbons.

The toolkit outlines the benefits of breastfeeding and has strategies and resources businesses can use to create a baby friendly environment.

It was launched today at a gathering in Owen Sound.

Medical Officer of Health Doctor Hazel Lynn says, "Embracing breastfeeding friendly businesses helps to support the entire community on the road to wellness; and we all want to be healthy!"
