Stratford police say the number of death and serious injury accidents in the area in the past few months are unacceptable.
“The deaths, pain and broken hearts that result from carelessness behind the wheel can be prevented,” says Inspector Sam Theocharis. Police agencies across the country are collaborating on this project because they have seen more than enough of that, and because they know that the involvement of the driving public is essential to achieve safer streets and highways.”
The national campaign focuses on impaired, agressive and distracted driving.
Officers will also be looking to ensure people are buckled in.
The extra enforcement starts today and will be in place all weekend to coincide with the high traffic volume that traditionally accompanies the Thanksgiving weekend.
