Fundraising Underway To Expand Zurich Health Team Building

The Bluewater Area Family Health Team is expanding.

Spokesperson Julian Bayley explains they're not a hospital so they're not looking for funding for capital equipment. But he adds they are hoping to double the size of their current building in Zurich.

Bayley points out in 2008 they had about 1,700 patients and today they have over 4,000 and that translates into about 20,000 visits to the Health Team office every year.

Bayley adds they draw from about 25 communities starting with Zurich but extending as far north as Goderich and as far south as Arkona and Port Franks.

Bayley explains they've received a grant of $1.48-million from the Health Ministry but they need another $600,000 to complete the expansion and fund-raising for that is now underway.

Bayley adds they hope to start construction on the expansion next spring.
