Successful Weekend for Local Minor Hockey Teams

Some local minor hockey teams claimed victories over the weekend.

The Wes For Youth Grey Bruce Highland Minor Midgets took both games of a double header over the Buffalo Regals.

The games were played in Chesley on Saturday. In the first match-up, Zach Trott and Austin Vanwyck each struck twice for the Highlanders with a pair in their 5-1 win. Jamie Damignani also scored.

In Game 2, Connor Roberts led the scoring with a pair in the Highlanders 7-1 win over the Regals. Derek Cornfield, Justin Marlowe, Chet Phillips, Zach Trott and Jackson Nasato all scored in the win.

The Saugeen Maitland Lightning Intermediate "A" team won five straight at the Etobicoke Pink in the Rink tournament to claim gold.

They shut out Sudbury 5-0 in the final yesterday.

The Owen Sound Collins Barrow Midget AE Junior Attack split their games over the weekend. Tayan MacMillan handled all the offense with a hat trick in their 3-1 win over Essa on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Junior Attack fell 4-1 to Midland. Oakley Patterson was the lone scorer for Owen Sound.
