Beach Street Station Wins Business Of The Year Award

The owner of the Beach Street Station Restaurant on the beach in Goderich says you don't move a train station to the shoreline and convert it into a restaurant for recognition.

But Herb Marshall says when the recognition comes your way, it's very gratifying.

The Beach Street Station was named business of the year at the Goderich, North Huron and Central Huron Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Success Award night last weekend.

Marshall was out of town and couldn't attend the event.

The restaurant opened early last summer and Marshall says in June and July they had a lot of visitors from places like London, Kitchener and Owen Sound and that's the market they wanted.

In August, Marshall says they had over 14,000 visitors.

Marshall says they have had some growing pains and still have some work to do. However, he adds it's been a very good first year and promises it will only get better.

Marshall says his goal has always been to attract people from out of town and the more visitors that come to Goderich and enjoy themselves the more they'll tell their friends.
