Last weekend the Owen Sound Attack raised $34,500 for the Canadian Cancer Society with their third annual Bears in Blue game for Men's Cancer Awareness.
The live jersey auction following Saturday's game against the London Knights raised nearly $16,000 while the sale of toques, mittens, silent auction and other donations accounted for the rest.
"We are very lucky to have such an amazing partnership with the Attack and their fans, the events have evolved over the years raising money for different types of cancer. The third Bears in Blue proved to be one of our most successful initiatives yet," says Jen Wright, fundraising specialist with the society. "Everything from donations to our bucket pass and silent auction to the highly anticipated live jersey auction, it is a fun evening raising funds for prostate cancer research."
The team also honoured former coach Mark Reeds prior to the game and his wife, son and daughter were on hand to drop the puck.
