Twolan Re-Elected As Bruce County Council Warden

Bruce County Council has chosen its warden for the new term starting in 2016.

Mayor Mitch Twolan of Huron-Kinloss was re-elected as the warden today at the Bruce County Council Chambers in Walkerton. Twolan presided over the past term, and noted on a few accomplishments made by council in 2015, including the new budget format. The 2016 budget was approved prior to Twolan being sworn in again.

Twolan also spoke about upcoming projects for council, including the new natural gas project. The project, according to Twolan, will create economic growth and business opportunities for Bruce County residents and be a huge boost for the agricultural community.

Also revealed at the meeting was the new Bruce Power refurbishment announcement. Warden Twolan briefly commented that it is an exciting announcement for his constituants and he looks forward to seeing the project grow. Twolan also spoke on the DGR proposal being pushed back, saying he hopes to have the issue resolved at the new March 1 date.

Twolan now heads to Paris to take part in the UN Climate Change Summit with many influential world leaders, and says he hopes to "return with more knowledge to share on best environmental practices with Bruce County residents."
