A Syrian family could arrive in the Hanover area as early as the end of this month.
The Hanover and Area Refugees Committee has raised the money necessary to bring the family.
Committee member Christine Forand they're a family of seven - mother and father with five children between the ages of 11 and 20.
She says at first they'll stay with a Hanover area family while the committee looks for rental accommodation.
Forand says the refugee family will have much to deal with and the committee will try to make the transition for the family as easy as possible.
Forand says the Hanover and Area refugee Committee has raised more than the $22,500 needed to bring the one family and bringing a second family is in the works.
"Everything that we do here will be different than how they have been living for the last while for sure in the refugee camp and there will also be relief of not being in a war torn country so I'm sure the emotions will be mixed for them," says Forand. "We are going to do our best to make them feel as welcome as possible and get them settled and learning English and make them feel comfortable and welcome."
