Meaford council has approved the municipal portion of the 2016 property tax.
The hike is 1.94 % and for the average property owner it means an increase of just under $40. That does not include the education and County portions.
Mayor Barbara Clumpus says of Meaford’s gross operating budget of $21.3 million, the tax supported operating budget is $12.7 million.
The proposed 2016 budget includes additional funding requests of about $245,000 over 2015.
$223,900 of that amount will go towards infrastructure funding.
