Huron County's Economic Development Adviser says 2015 has been a very good one for the county.
Ron Gaudet points to three specific goals that have been met by the county.
First, they now have the county and all of its municipal partners working together on common goals.
Second, they now have a set of clearly defined goals, and third - human resources is now aligned with the strategy that measures results.
Gaudet adds one of the challenges in the coming year will be to match job skills with the needs of the market. He points out many businesses in Huron County are ready and anxious to expand, but too many of the people looking for work don't have the skills they need.
He suggests there has to be better co-ordination between educators and the job market, and employers are going to have to provide more of the training.
Gaudet adds there has to be a greater effort to create an entrepreneurial climate that allows people to take chances, make a few mistakes and have the supports around them to get over those mistakes and move on.
