Snowmobile Trails Closed Due to Milder Weather

The rain and milder temperatures may be a welcome sight for some but not so much for many snowmobilers throughout Midwestern Ontario.

Karen Buratynski, Manager of District 9 for the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs says they've had to close many trails for safety reasons.

"Well the rain is not making snowmobilers very happy; as of about noon today the majority of trails in District 9 have had to close down due to the recent warm temperatures and rain," says Buratynski.

Officials will be keeping an eye on weather conditions throughout the day and monitoring trails as the weather changes.

"Once the rain stops and we return to the snowy conditions which are forecast for this afternoon, at that oint then all of the club volunteers need to go back over the trails and assess what kind of damage the rain has done," adds Buratynski.

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is reminding snowmobilers NOT to ride on trails that are posted as being CLOSED.

Closed trails are just that for a reason; mainly due to the safety of all snowmobilers.
