Kincardine ratepayers should set aside a little extra to pay their taxes in 2016.
The 2016 Kincardine budget bylaw has been approved by council.
Director of Finance, Roxana Baumann, explains the average property owner with a home assessed at $240,000 will see their municipal taxes go up 6.5 per cent.
When the levies from Bruce County and the Bluewater District Public School Board are added in, the increase is 4 per cent over last year for the average home, or $109 more.
Baumann says one of the big changes this year was an increase of $700,000 in the amount the municipality will set aside to maintain and upgrade infrastructure in the future.
