Donations Sought As Alzheimer Society Of Grey Bruce Feels Financial Pinch

The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce says they're about to face their first major financial downfall in the 29-year history of the organization and they're sending out a plea for help.

Executive Director Deborah Barker says they typically hold their annual major fundraising event, the Walk for Memories, in January but now they've switched to a new nationally promoted event which will take place on May 7, 2016.

This means a loss of roughly $70,000 in budgeted revenue for the 2015-16 fiscal year which ends March 31, 2016.

"As you can imagine for a non-profit charity that is a big challenge," says Barker. "We have certainly made attempts to offset some of that lost revenue through some special events that we've held throughout the year."

Barker notes they still have to raise approximately $30,000 and they're reaching out to the community for support.
