Food Sampling And Public Input At Goderich Library

The Huron Food Action Network is looking for public input in creating a Food System Report.

H-FAN has already created a report on what exists, and what the current trends in local food indicate for the future.

But Food System Co-ordinator Nathan Swartz says they want to find out what people like in the system now and what they feel is missing. He adds that could include locally-grown products or things like processing facilities that are currently not available in Huron.

They are inviting the public to a presentation and an opportunity to sample locally-grown products at the Goderich Museum Thursday night at 6pm.

Swartz says Huron County alone produces more agriculture products than the three Maritime provinces combined, so we should not have to ship that production out of the county to get it processed.

With the increasing cost of imported produce, Swartz says this is the time to look at growing every possible locally.

There is not an opportunity to taste locally-produced wine as previously reported.
