Wingham-based Company Wins Canadian Award

A Huron County manufacturer has won a national business award.

Britespan Building Systems has been selected as the 2016 Small Business of The Year as part of the AIR MILES Small Business Achievement Awards.

Britespan, in partnership with Maitland Welding, has 45 employees in Wingham and Lucknow.

Britespan sold 370 buildings across North America last year, with sales topping $14.5 million.

Nearly half of the sales were in the U.S., and the company has plans to expand its dealer network south of the border this year.

The AIR MILES Small Business Achievement Awards ceremony, sponsored by the Bank of Montreal, take place in Toronto on March 7.

In a news release, Britespan Building Systems President Ben Hogervorst states, "We are very proud of all the accomplishments that have been achieved by everyone in the company.  It is only by working together and collaborating and creating that we have been so fortunate to have actually won this award."

Last year, Britespan received the Industry Supplier of the Year at the Canada Oil and Gas Awards ceremony in Calgary.
