Good Air Quality in Grey Bruce

Air quality in Grey Bruce is good according to a study by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.

Last year the health unit, in collaboration with the Environment Ministry, set up air monitoring stations in three locations.

They wanted to confirm data gathered by the one monitoring station in the Tiverton area in use for several years.

Health unit Program Manager Bob Hart says the air was found to be low risk.

"Low risk translates into very good so 95% of the time the air quality was in the low risk category and in the remaining five per cent of the time there were a few hits that went into the moderate risk only so very good quality data," said Hart in an interview after his presentation to the Grey Bruce Board of Health.

Low risk means the air was found to be of little consequence in contributing to things like respiratory disease and asthma.

The monitoring stations were set up on the Bruce Peninsula, Owen Sound and Hanover.
