Huron County's senior management team has been asked to take a critical look at all of the services they deliver in order to help council with next year's budget.
CAO Brenda Orchard says staff have reviewed all of the services delivered by each department to make the distinction between mandatory and discretionary services, and what level of government is requiring the mandatory services.
Orchard adds it's been a very difficult process and will eventually require some very difficult decisions, as councillors weigh the benefits of some of the discretionary services and consider the consequences of not delivering some of those services.
Orchard says the information will be presented to county council at a future committee of the whole meeting.
Orchard points out the information will be invaluable as council looks at next year's budget.
