A graduate of Owen Sound Collegiate Vocational Institute calls the plan to merge the city's two high schools shortsighted.
Ian Heft who now lives in Sault Ste. Marie has issued an open letter to the Bluewater District School Board and the community in regards to recommendations made by the Accommodation Review Committee.
Heft questions why they would move all secondary students to a 60-year-old building while re-purposing a comparatively new building for use as an elementary school. He says renovations would have to include washrooms, classrooms, parking, and new playground, while removing specialized highschool elements.
Heft says the creation of a Grades 7-12 school would be better than creating a supersized elementary school at the corner of two very busy roads.
The ES instructor has created a face book page, OS SOS: Save Our Schools, to gather public opinion.
