Annual Hometown Heroes Hockey Game Date Announced

The date has been announced for the third annual Hometown Heroes Charity Hockey Game.

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb made the announcement on the steps of the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on Friday.

The game will be played on July 21 of this year at the Maitland Recreation Centre in Goderich.

Once again, the game will be led by local NHL players Cal and Ryan O'Reilly along with former NHLers Boyd Devereaux and Dave McLlwain.

Lobb says more players will be announced as the date approaches but he adds the players at last year's event had a great time, so he expects more current NHLers will be anxious to play this year.

Over the first two years the game has raised about $90,000, with that split between the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, the Goderich Y and the Gateway Centre of Excellence for Rural Health.

Lobb points out the game is For the Health of It, with the focus on health care so he hopes people will continue to come out and support it.

This year's goal is $50,000.

Lobb says updates as players are added to the roster can be found on the web site htheroes.ca.

Tickets for the game are available at Ben Lobb's office in either Goderich or Port Elgin, at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich or at the Goderich Y.
