Twenty prominent entrepreneurs from Huron County joined a panel of four successful young business people to look at the future of Huron County.
The event Tuesday was called Lunch, Link and Lean and was co-hosted by Goderich resident John Grace and the Huron Business Development Corporation.
The panel consisted of John Baker, president and CEO of D2L; Lain Klugman, president and CEO of Communitch; Titus Ferguson, executive director and founder of UnLondon Digital Media Associates; and Gemma Mendez-Smith, executive director of the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.
The goal was to look at the future economy of Huron County and both the panel and the local entrepreneurs agreed a key to that is attracting and supporting young entrepreneurs.
It was also suggested that there are opportunities here for young people, and there has to be a better match between education and training and the needs of employers.
Grace adds that while the loss of young people is a concern in Huron County, there is also a problem at the other end of the spectrum with the number of people getting ready to retire in the next few years.
