UPDATE: Power Almost Restored In Midwestern Ontario

It seems that Thursday's ice storm that wreaked havoc across much of Southern Ontario caused more problems than originally thought.

As of Saturday night, Hydro One officials are saying more than 1,200 workers have reported for duty this weekend as hydro crews work around the clock to get the power back on in areas that were hit the hardest.

There are still a number of power outages in Northern Wellington County. Hydro One expects to have the power back on for the remaining customers by 11pm on Sunday.

According to Hydro One, the hardest hit areas on Saturday were as follows:

  • Alliston - 10,000 customers without power.
  • Barrie - 3,100 customers without power.
  • Guelph - 4,700 customers without power.
  • Listowel - 4,700 customers without power.
  • Orangeville - 8,000 customers without power.
  • Owen Sound - 1,000 customers without power.
