Major Drug Bust In Huron County

A traffic stop led one of the biggest drug busts in recent history for the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police.

The OPP say on March 25 around 2:18pm, an officer observed and followed a Jeep Cherokee and a Dodge van traveling in tandem on Kerry's Line west of Lucknow.  The officer followed the two vehicles to a laneway on Belfast Rd. where they stopped.  The officer spoke to both drivers and checked the status of an ATV that was being towed in a trailer by the Jeep, as a similar vehicle had been stolen earlier that day.

The officer discovered the driver of the van was allegedly driving with a suspended drivers licence, and was placed under arrest.

Following a search of the two vehicles, police seized a total of 49 bags of packaged marijuana and cannabis resin, weighing over 280 kg.

As a result, 57-year-old David Farrish of Woolwich Township and 30-year-old Allen Ferrill of Kitchener have been charged with possession of over 3 kg of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of under 3 kg of cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking.  Farrish is also charged with two counts of driving while suspended and driving without a license.

Both men have been released from custody with a future court date.
