Meaford has received two grants worth $175 thousand.
Queen's Park will help fund an infrastructure project with a $171 thousand grant. The $171 thousand provincial grant is part of the Province’s ‘Connecting Links’ infrastructure program.
The Municipality will resurface 1.05 kilometres of Sykes Street North from Cook Street to Ford Avenue in urban Meaford, which is part of Meaford’s Highway 26 connecting link.
Mayor Barbara Clumpus called the grants wonderful news during Meaford council’s meeting last night.
Clumpus says maintaining a sustainable network of roads "is essential for our families and to grow our economy.”
Mayor Clumpus was also glad to hear Meaford received a grant to help defray the cost of its Canada Day programs.
Ottawa is giving the town $4 thousand for its Canada Day celebrations
