Several schools in the Avon Maitland District board system will be getting structural upgrades this year.
The board has accepted a tender for just over $666,000 for renovations to Howick Central School.
Five classrooms in the south wing of the school will be upgraded. Work includes floor, window, door and frame replacement, as well as painting and new millwork. Also included is ventilation upgrades which will improve indoor air quality.
Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton will see mechanical and lighting work in the small gym. That will include replacing the original 1962 heating and ventilation system with a new air handling unit. The tender for that project is valued at almost $140,000.
Tenders were accepted for re-roofing at F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham, Listowel District Secondary School, and Stratford Northwestern Secondary School.
