Hanover Police Service Constable Ordered Dismissed

A constable with the Hanover Police Service has been dismissed for professional misconduct.

At a Police Services Act Hearing in Hanover, Constable Robin Paige was dismissed, effective immediately, for charges of Discreditable Conduct and Insubordination.

The allegations stemmed from an incident on January 19th, 2015 where Constable Paige was found to be under the influence of alcohol while on duty.   It was also alleged that he refused an order made by a supervising officer to provide a sample of his breath to determine the level of his sobriety.

Last October 15th, Constable Paige was found guilty on both misconduct charges during a Police Services Act Hearing.

Constable Paige remained on paid suspension in accordance with the Police Services Act from January 19th, 2015 until his dismissal last Friday.

In a news release, Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll stated, "The Hanover Police Service recognizes that these professional misconduct matters will be upsetting to members of the public.

We want to reassure our citizens and visitors that we are an open, honest and transparent policing organization that continually strives to provide effective, efficient and professional policing to the people that we serve."
