Four paramedics from Grey County are being recognized with the Ontario Award for Paramedic Bravery.
The award honours paramedics who have performed an act of exceptional courage while on the job or off duty.
Matthew Breadner and Tiffany Shaw for Grey County Paramedic Services are being recognized for their efforts on Augst 30, 2015 when they witnessed a head-on crash after returning from another call. Two of the nine victims were trapped and in serious condition. They were able to rescue both victims before one of the vehicles erupted in flames.
Paramedics Nick Maus and Kyle Stewart of Grey County Paramedic Services are being recognized for their efforts during the residential fires in Owen Sound. On August 10, 2015, homes were set on fire and the two paramedics were treating patients for smoke inhalation when they discovered the rear of a semi-detached home and a large shed engulfed in flames posing a risk to adjacent properties. They entered the burning building, and saved two occupants.
