The PC Environment and Cap and Trade critic says a copy of Liberal Climate Plan released by the Globe and Mail confirms the government plans to increase the cost of living and doing business in Ontario.
Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the scheme will increase the cost of gas, groceries, electricity and home heating.
She says Ontarians already struggling to pay bills and feed their families cannot afford the new tax.
The Globe and Mail says the province would ban NEW homes from hooking in to natural gas by 2030.
Thompson says electric heat will cost families $3,000. more a year.
She says the added tax on gasoline would increase the costs of fuelling up by hundreds of dollars a year, with commuters bearing the brunt of the gas tax.
Thompson claims the province has already lost 350,000 well paying manufacturing jobs, and the new tax would kill more jobs, and send more companies south of the border.
"The affordability of life in Ontario and the health of our economy hang in the balance. If the Liberals continue with their reckless cap-and-trade scheme - the cost of everything in this province will go up and more hardworking Ontarians will be thrown out of work. That is why Ontarians must act now to stop this scheme before it's too late."
