The Chair of the Huron Manufacturing Association says the manufacturing sector in Huron County - and the economy in Huron generally - is very healthy right now.
Jeff Hearn explains that's primarily because the economy in Huron County is tied to agriculture and the agriculture industry is doing well.
Hearn adds the unemployment rate has gone up slightly from a couple of years ago when it was between three and four per cent, but it's still relatively good and there are jobs available in Huron County.
He does point out that some of the jobs can be a bit dirty or smelly, and that discourages some people, but there are jobs available.
Hearn concedes the average income in Huron County is probably lower than in a larger city, but he maintains that's partly because there are more high tech jobs in the city than there are in Huron County.
