Bluewater Mayor Says Municipality Partnerships Becoming The Norm

The mayor of Bluewater says he believes that partnerships between municipalities are the way of the future.

Speaking at this week's Mayor's Breakfast at the Bayfield Town Hall, Tyler Hessel explained Bluewater has already partnered with Central Huron on some projects, and they're now exploring possibilities with Huron East. Hessel says given the financial challenges small municipalities are facing, it just makes sense to look for ways they can work together to save money and maintain services.

Hessel adds he is personally in favour of a single-tier government, and suggests the increasing number of partnerships between municipalities appears to be a trend in that direction.

North Huron and Morris-Turnberry recently completed a partnership agreement that many other municipalities are considering using as a model.
