Perth County OPP have charged a Stratford man with careless driving after a school bus left the road near New Hamburg and struck a tree.
OPP say the First Student bus was east on Line 41 when it left the road, entered the north ditch and hit a tree about 8 this morning.
The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and six high school students on the bus were treated at the scene by Perth County paramedics.
The bus occupants evacuated in an orderly fashion before the bus caught fire, and became engulfed in flames.
Perth East fire fighters extinguished the blaze.
49-year-old Kevin Henry of Stratford has been charged with “careless driving”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
