United Way Perth Huron Supports Program To Overcome Employment Barriers

United Way Perth Huron will continue to support an organization that helps people who are facing barriers to employment.

PF Solutions will be able to extend programming to help more individuals move from Poverty to Possibility.

Since 2011, PF Solutions has helped over 140 community members overcome multiple barriers to employment.

Manager Susan Faber says their services can be as straight forward as upgrading skills through work experience, to more complex anxiety or self confidence challenges.

She says they provide a customized approach and a supportive environment for participants to try new challenges in a safe inclusive environment.

Faber explains that PF solutions works with local employment centres, and they help at least 10 Ontario Works recipients each year gain the knowledge they need to get into the work force.

Sonya a graduate from PF shared “PF was a tremendous opportunity for me. I was sending out endless resumes and just not hearing back because of my lack of work experience. With a couple of months under my belt at PF, along with references and a resume full of accomplishments and validated skills I moved onto a great job.”

Ryan Erb, United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director further stated, “The investment in this program builds bridges, reducing barriers to employment in a customized environment. This is a true example of how United Way Perth-Huron is investing in programs that move people from Poverty to Possibility.”
