OPP Lay Charges in Perth Line 26 Collision

Perth County OPP have released the details of a collision that closed Perth Line 26 for more than 5 hours.
OPP were called just before 6am Friday to a collision involving two tractor trailers and a pick up truck west of Tavistock.
Investigators found that an east bound Mack Truck pulling a full sized load of soya beans collided head on with Freightliner truck pulling a full sized cement tanker trailer in the west bound lane.
The Freightliner entered the north ditch and came to rest in a field.
A west bound Chevy pick up behind the Freightliner veered into the north ditch to avoid the Mack Truck.
A 34-year-old driver, Thomas Jeffery Barry, of Huron East is charged with careless driving. Barry was treated in a local hospital for minor injuries.
The west bound tractor trailer has moderate damage, while the Mack was severely damaged.  The pick up truck was not damaged.
The Ontario Ministry of Environment was contacted due to rupturing of a fuel tank and a subsequent diesel fuel spill. A crane was utilized to remove the tractor trailer from the field.

Perth Line 26 was closed to traffic from 6 a.m. until 11:40 a.m. allowing for the safe removal and clean-up of debris and vehicles from the scene.
