Bruce County's Warden wants to stick around in the job for at least one more year.
Mitch Twolan announced during Thursday's county council session that he intends to put his name forward for the Warden's position in 2017, which would be his third-consecutive term at the head of the county council table.
He says politicians always have a list of unfinished business and his list includes two major projects - the natural gas proposal for the southern portion of Bruce County, as well as Ontario Power Generation's proposed deep geologic repository at the Bruce nuclear site.
Twolan says he also has his eye on Bruce County's 150th anniversary celebrations next year.
"We have a lot of events planned and to be a part of that and to be possibly the warden to lead that 150th year of celebrations, that would be a tremendous honour," says Twolan.
So far, no other councillors have stepped forward to challenge Twolan and he says he has not heard of any other councillors having an interest in the job, but admits that could change between now and when the warden's election is held in December.
If Twolan is successful in his bid for a third-consecutive term, it would put him in rare company, as Robert Purves was the last person to hold the job for three straight terms, when he was warden from 1880 until 1882.
