A new "Dragon's Den" business competition is coming to Huron and Perth counties.
The Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity in Blyth has announced the contest, called "The Pitch, the Catch."
Entrepreneurs will pitch their business proposals to a group of catchers - seven investors who will offer financial assistance to those doing business in Huron and Perth.
The deadline to submit business plans and applications is August 15th at 4pm.
The event will be held in front of a live audience at the Belgrave Arena on September 28.
In early August, a review team will choose the top seven projects for the stage presentations on September 28t
Personal interviews with the finalists will be held in mid August to discuss the business plans and videotape a short introduction of each pitcher’s project.
"We have a truly remarkable group of cross-sectoral enthusiastic investors ready to support viable new ideas," says Jeff Roy, a member of the organizing committee. "We will focus on developing all the contestants to give them the best possible chance for success by having a bullpen with additional investors and banking representatives that may offer deeper engagement and opportunity to the finalists."
The September 28 event is open to the public, and tickets are on sale now for $45 each. That will include The Pitch/The Catch event, a Pig Roast catered by Cardiff’s BBQ Catering, and a keynote presentation from Canada’s newly-crowned Young Farmer, Amy Cronin.
