Here's an example of how an insecure load in the back of a truck or trailer can cause injury to others.
A garbage can blew out of a utility trailer along Highway 8, west of Stratford, Saturday morning. The can landed in the path of a motorcycle that was driving behind the trailer.
The motorcycle driver lost control and the bike slid sideways across the highway. The two occupants of the motorcycle were treated in Stratford hospital for minor injuries, and later released.
The 46-year-old Perth East woman driving the SUV with the trailer has been charged with "Insecure Load" under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police remind drivers to be certain that their loads are bound, secured, contained or covered. The load must not become dislodged or fall, leak, spill or blow from the vehicle.
