Goderich Celtic Roots Festival Underway

The 24th annual Goderich Celtic Roots Festival gets underway on Friday at the Lion's Harbour Park on West St. in Goderich.

Artistic Director Kate Johnston says the best Celtic musicians from around the world find their way to Goderich every year for the festival. But Johnston adds it's not limited to Celtic music, and she suggests it could be called a Celtic Roots acoustic folk festival, and includes folk, bluegrass and of course, Celtic.

Johnston also points out the performers can be heard on the big stage but also get together for jam sessions on some of the smaller stages, so there will be music all over the park starting at noon on Friday, and continuing through till Sunday evening. Johnston adds Celtic crafts and culture are also a big part of the attraction, and there are lots of kids attractions as well.

The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival opens at noon today with music till midnight tonight and Saturday, and 10:30pm on Sunday night. More information and a schedule of performers can be found on the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival web site.
