After a Ministry of Environment test on Lake Rosalind that found blue-green algae toxins, no follow up tests have been done.
Brockton councillor Chris Peabody says that left residents upset, so they paid to have private tests done.
"They paid for six tests on two of the lakes, and the tests results came back last Friday and showed that the level of algae and toxin in the lake was well below the drinking water standard," says Peabody.
But while the new tests show the water is safe, Peabody says he wouldn't advise use of the lake water until the Health Unit gives the official OK.
He also says residents asked Brockton to request that the Ministry do more frequent testing.
"When the MOE did the initial test they only did one, and weren't planning more until September, essentially leaving residents guessing and out of the know all summer. So they are requesting Brockton's help in asking the MOE to do more tests, and in more test locations."
