A Brockton councillor is speaking out about his dissatisfaction with the way the Grey Bruce Health Unit is handling the Marl Lake and Lake Rosalind Blue Green Algae contamination.
Chris Peabody says the "Do Not Use Water Order" issued in July essentially bans people from using their homes and the Ministry of Environment has yet to do further testing.
He says the residents paid for their own tests after feeling abandoned by the government. He says they used an accredited lab because they have grave concerns about the ability of the Ministry of Environment or health unit to do proper follow up tests.
A Grey Bruce Health news release says the "Do Not Use Water Advisory" is still in place despite the water being declared safe in the private tests.
Peabody is calling on the health unit to put more resources toward the issue.
The Ministry of Environment will re-sample next week, and the following week to determine if the lake water meets the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standard.
